James Patrick Ostler lives in Chicago, IL with his two sons, Declan and Will.  He received his BA from the University of Missouri in 2009.

His influences include Cecily Brown, Francis Bacon, Ibrahim el Salahi, Robert Rauschenberg and the postwar abstract expressionists of the New York School.

Chicago artists he admires include William J. O’Brien, Celeste Rapone, Devan Shimoyama, Julia Fish, and Jim Nutt.
